After a month since it first premiered in theaters, Marvel Studios’ newest film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has crossed a new box office milestone.
The Benedict Cumberbatch sequel has crossed the $900 million mark globally. Doctor Strange 2 MoM is currently the 14th highest-grossing MCU movie worldwide.
Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness is already the highest-grossing movie of 2022 worldwide, and among the highest-grossing films of the entire pandemic era. And with a 74% at Rotten Tomatoes,
It’s just behind Avengers 2 when it comes to critical reception, although the Cinemascore is below the MCU’s typical A-grade range.
Whether or not this sequel crosses the $1 billion mark remains to be seen, but increased competition with Top Gun: Maverick and the upcoming Jurassic World Dominion, that milestone may be pretty difficult.
Also, the film is set to hit Disney+ later this month, which will also effect ticket sales somewhat.
Either way, Doctor strange 2 ‘still the #1 film at the 2022 box office thus far, at least for now.
